CATALYST RIDGE WINES
2020
Eola-Amity Hills
Pinot Noir
Willamette Valley, Eola-Amity Hills AVA
Our flagship Pinot Noir is a bold expression of the varietal, creating what we believe is the bullseye of Oregon Pinot Noir. We consistently focus on creating wines with a balance of tannins and acidity based on what the vineyard gives us in each vintage. While our Eola-Amity Hills Pinot Noir generally expresses blue and black fruit flavors, the 2020 vintage brings a bit of spice as well as currant undertones. A rich mediumbodied wine and a silky mouth feel, this wine can be opened today and will also age well for many years.

Farming and the 2020 Growing Season
The 2020 growing season continued a multi-year trend of producing lower than average yields. This resulted in more intense flavors from the grapes. With the lower yields, we chose to source fruit not only from the Orchard House vineyard, the estate of our winemaker Joe Dobbes, but also from two other vineyards that have consistently produced top-tier wines. Symonette Vineyard and Bieze Vineyard are outstanding Eola-Amity Hills vineyards that Joe has worked with for decades. Our approach to winemaking remains to express the unique characteristics of the vineyard and the vintage and you can taste some of the differences in our 2020 Eola-Amity Pinot Noir.
